“They’ll have them removed, they’ll have to laser off their D tattoos…”
Goddamn motherfucking YES. I probably shouldn’t be as ridiculously happy as I am about the new Tenacious D video, the title track to their very entertaining new album Rize of the Fenix. Still, they make me feel like I’m 12 again – and, despite what you’re thinking, that’s not nearly as bad as you think it might be. They bring a joy, a fearless and shameless approach to the characters of Jables and Rage Kage, and it doesn’t matter if you’re on board with it or not. All you have to do is enjoy it for what it is.
Here, the boys present a “working progress”/”rough cut” on what could probably be the greatest and best video in the world. There’s fire, dragons, an acoustic guitar that turns into a sword and hands with a thousand fingers. Of course, to go along with that, we get a lot of green screen trouble and some nasty on-set accidents – but that’s par for the course when you’re the single most important band in rock history, right? The scene was set with their brilliant 6-minute video for To Be the Best a month or so ago, and their path of domination continues. Once they’ve figured out how to work with their special effects crew, you just know they’re going to continue to change lives around the world. And that’s not opinion – that’s fact.
